  • Sara Burlingame

    Executive Director

    Sara (she/her) leads the organization’s advocacy efforts, working to connect local and national partners in expanding LGBTQ advocacy. Sara is a former Wyoming state legislator, representing House District 44 in South Cheyenne. Sara’s background in faith organizing with the Human Rights Campaign has led to life changing partnerships with faith communities. Outside of her work, Sara is a voracious reader as well as a dedicated parent, poet, partner and sometimes artisan bread baker.

  • Ammon Medina

    Deputy Director

    Ammon Medina (he/they) has 10+ years of nonprofit experience. He has an MFA in creative writing and is a current MBA candidate at the University of Wyoming. While they are currently on the executive team, they've worked in communications, development, programs, lobbying, organizing, and consulting. Ammon brings thoughtful guidance to project and change management. He centers authenticity, compassion, and curiosity in his work. In the off hours, Ammon loves making hand-rolled pasta, writing, and playing around on the guitar.

  • Kota Babcock

    Director of Health Equity

    Kota Babcock (he/they) connects LGBTQ people from all ends of the state to affirming healthcare options, focusing on each person’s mental and physical health needs. While formally trained in journalism, he spent 7 years working with Denver-based youth HIV advocacy group All The TEA and Children’s Hospital Colorado, which included marketing for the cabotegravir for PrEP research study. Kota was honored with the Pedro Zamora Young Leaders’ Award by the National AIDS Memorial Grove for his efforts in HIV advocacy in 2018. He is also a Masters of Public Health candidate at Eastern Washington University.

  • Sarah Hays

    Healthcare Outreach Coordinator

    Sarah (she/her) lives in her hometown, Laramie, with her wife and a menagerie of animals. Sarah has spent the last several years working as a park ranger and as a researcher in the fields of ecology and zoology. Recently, Sarah decided to shift her passion of volunteering with the LGBTQ community to the forefront, and is thrilled to get a chance to work with the amazing team at Wyoming Equality. She is most excited about being able to make a meaningful change in people’s lives, and can’t wait to make connections across the state. In her free time, Sarah loves to brew beer, hike, rock climb, run, do archery, create art, foster dogs, and above all, spend time with her amazing wife!

  • Santi Murillo

    Communications Coordinator

    Santi (she/her) is a Wyoming native and lives in Cheyenne with her life partner and two dogs, Luna and Louie. She attended the University of Wyoming, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology. During her time at UW, she became the first transgender athlete at the university, following her passion for cheerleading during her four years of school. She is passionate about advocating for trans youth and her dream job has always been to dedicate her time working for a non-profit specializing in LGBTQ+ advocacy. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing with her dogs, and spending time with her family.

  • Danica Hecht

    Safe & Healthy Communities Coordinator + Office Manager

    Danica Hecht (she/her) is the Office Manager at Wyoming Equality. She attended Hampshire College in Amherst, Massachusetts where she studied public health, public policy, and gender. Danica moved to Cheyenne in 2011 and since then has worked in the service industry, real estate, and the non-profit sector. She is passionate about LGBTQIA+ rights, healthcare access, and intersectional movement-building. Outside of work, Danica enjoys video games, reading, being out in nature, making weird arts and crafts projects, and spending time with her family.
